GCSE Results Press Release
I am delighted to announce that on the back of our vintage Sixth Form results, this Summer’s Year 11 students have also achieved a great set of results. 2018 has again proven to be a superb year for results at Honiton Community College. The success achieved is just reward for the hard work and commitment from students and staff alike.
64% of the cohort achieved the equivalent of 5+A*-C inc. English and Maths, with over a fifth of all entries being A*/A (new level 7, 8 or 9 grades), in addition to over half of all entries being awarded at the new 9-5 grades. This is a superb achievement for a non-selective, comprehensive school. Indeed, we pride ourselves on our inclusive approach, working together, as a community, to provide a first-class education that helps develop rounded students that are ready to take on the challenges of adulthood.
We are extremely proud of the whole year group and aim to ensure every student makes expected, or better than expected, progress. The following top performing students were:
Emily Lee: 7 9s, 2 7s and an A in AS Photography (a year early)
Luke Gouldson: 5 9s, 3 8s and a 7
Tim Bennett: 3 9s, 4 8s, 1 7 and 1 6
Nathan Paveley: 3 9s, 2 8s, 4 7s and a 6
Naomi Lakin: 5 8s, 2 7s, a distinction and an A in AS Art (a year early)
Louise Wyatt: 2 9s, 3 8s, 2 7s and 2 6s
On behalf of staff and governors I wish all of our students every success in the future, many of whom will be returning in September to take up their post-16 studies. No doubt aiming to replicate the success of this year’s Year 13!
Finally, I would like to thank the staff and governors for all their hard work and support. In a year when tests are tougher than ever, it’s their commitment and professionalism that has enabled my team and I to ensure the school is performing so well, at all key stages, and is truly a great place to work, study and learn.
